Caitlin Burke Talks About Her Epic One Letter 'Wheel of Fortune' Win (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 9th 2010 10:58AM
On 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM ET on CBS), Caitlin Burke talked her amazing 'Wheel of Fortune' win where she solved a puzzle with only one letter on the show's Nov. 5 episode.

Burke easily solved the 28-letter prize puzzle, despite only knowing one letter, and won herself a Caribbean holiday. All total, she walked away with $53,618 in money and prizes. "It's been crazy. It's been more than I could ever imagine," she said of the media attention over her win.

In order to test Burke's skill, Harry Smith provides her with a puzzle and only reveals a single letter. But Burke struggles with the hidden phrase, which turns out to be "Bet you can't do it again Caitlin."

"That's not a real phrase!" protested Burke. "It doesn't count."

Ok so she won nearly $54,000 worth of prizes. What they don't tell you on the show is, you still have to pay off the taxes involved. There is no FREE meal ticket here.

I have noticed in recent months the game shows are definitely playing up to the good looking contestants. i.e. The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, even deal or no Deal.... Sorry caitlin but I think you messesd up and weren't supposed to solve that soon. she had the answer before the show started. Sooooo BS

Big deal! While watching on TV My wife got an answer correct with no letters showing, just two dashes. the clue was a person and the answer was daughter-in-law.

There's another more obvious explanation. Consider the amount of publicity this has generated. How can anyone rule out that this was rigged and she was given the answer by someone on the show staff. It's just all to convenient for me.

Digi, you're the one who's been watching too much
television. I've been watching Wheel Of Fortune,
The Price Is Right, WWE Wrestling and my all-time
favorite show, Sesame Street combined for 35 years,
and that, my good man, is how people get smart, not
dumb. Watching FOX's animated TV shows from late
1989 on, and then watching Reality TV shows starting
with MTV's The Real World, then trying to keep up
with umpteen hundred others on TV since 1991, that's
how people get dumb all their life, not smart. If
you don't like what you see on TV, either change
the channel, or turn it off, and go read a good book.
