On 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated), George Lopez said he welcomes Conan O'Brien joining him on TBS and thinks that together they're entering a new "future of late-night TV."The 'Lopez Tonight' host said he and O'Brien appeal to a "younger demographic" and provide an alternative to other late-night shows. "If you look at David Letterman and ... Jay Leno, they're in their sixties and their audience reflects that," Lopez said. "We're not. We're still in our forties and it's a much younger, much more diverse show."
Lopez said he pitched O'Brien on moving to TBS by promising a greater range of creative freedom. "I told him that you could probably create freer on cable than you could at the network," he said, "and there wasn't really a thing to make advertisers happy."
