Madonna joined a long list of celebrities who have recently spoken out against bullying on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated). The singer said she felt compelled to do so because of the gay community's support of her, and the fact she's currently raising a teenage daughter."To hear that children, teenagers, are taking their lives because they're being bullied in schools and dormitories ... is kind of unfathomable," Madonna said. "I know a number of people have already spoken out about it, but I feel like I need to say something."
Madonna added she can identify with teenagers feeling disconnected from their peers. "I can totally relate to the idea of feeling isolated and alienated," she said. "I was incredibly lonely as a child, as a teenager, and I have to say I never felt like I fit in at school ... There was no group that I felt a part of. I just felt like a weirdo."
