Hilary Duff Has a Video for Her New Book (VIDEO)

Though Hilary Duff's career certainly isn't stagnant (she's filming 'The Story of Bonnie and Clyde' with Kevin Zegers and Thora Birch), the young actress had an itch to do something new -- and so she wrote 'Elixir,' a young adult supernatural romance about a female photojournalist who meets a strange and beautiful man while tracking down her missing father.Duff was on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) to talk about the book, the differences between acting and being a writer, and to preview the video (yes, a video) for the book.
"It took about a year to write the book," Hilary said. "About six months before that, I was getting the itch to do something new ... I met a few of the right people and they were like, 'If you want to write a book and you have ideas, let's do it!'"
Being an author has its perks, Duff said, not the least of which are not having to dress up for filming scenes or having to memorize lines. It's "such a different process," she said. "I really got to be home and with my dogs."
While Duff talked, the video played in the background. It helps you picture the book in your head, she said. Check it out.
