Dennis Miller Explains Why He Likes Sarah Palin, Dislikes Obamacare (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Nov 16th 2010 7:20AM
Dennis Miller Talks Palin, Obamacare on 'Late Late'Comedian/radio-show host Dennis Miller, the self-professed libertarian, is known to have fiscally conservative views. So it's no surprise that he's not a big fan of Obamacare.

On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Miller called President Obama a "nice man" but described the new policy as "a big sweaty encyclopedia salesman that we accidentally let into the living room, and it's gonna be tough to pry him out on the back porch again." He said the consequences could turn the country into "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 3."

Craig Ferguson asked Miller what he thought of Sarah Palin. "I like Palin because, just because too many people who I don't respect hate her." Ferguson thought that was an interesting point. Miller went on to explain the (different) reasons men and women are drawn to her.

"the new policy as 'a big sweaty encyclopedia salesman that we accidentally let into the living room, and it's gonna be tough to pry him out on the back porch again.'"

Which makes zero sense, even for Dennis Miller.

Sure, it doesn't make sense for anyone under 40 who has never actually seen an encyclopedia salesman... but here's the translation for the kiddies out there:

Encyclopedias were never a high priority for folks. The salesmen who went door to door trying to sell the things weren't exactly Don Draper. In fact, many of them couldn't get better sales gigs... many of them were slovenly overweight types... and as with most door to door salesmen of the past, they were quite pushy... particularly once you let them in your house for a demonstration of the wonders on offer from their wares.

Obamacare, to extend the metaphor is a solution nobody really wants that isn't really a solution... and getting rid of it will be extremely hard. Ergo, similar to getting rid of one of those salesmen...

Not the most elegant analogy Miller has ever offered, but perhaps apt.

I mean, let's be honest... Obama solved people lacking healthcare by demanding they get it under penalty of the IRS. So, you either buy healthcare from the current, unamended system, or you get fined for not doing so. And the cost containments that were supposed to be added? Yeah... none of those exist. Basically, they just decided to make it a mandate without, as Obama himself liked to put it, "bending the cost curve downward." What did they do to do that? Forced the insurance companies to accept pre-existing conditions and then have everyone buy their overpriced product?

Sounds like buy 1964's sparkling new set of Britannica's to me.

Oh, and since this is clearly a politically motivated post by the initial author, I'll thank you in advance for not deleting my entry, which happens with great frequency on this site... Here's a clue, jackasses at TV Squad: If you don't want political discourse, don't post political topics.

If Miller is a "has been" I guess that makes Obamacareâ„¢ a "never was".
