Christians did not invent marriage. Marriage existed long before there was any such thing as Christianity. It was a social and economic contract between two families whose children were pairing up.

Even in the US at present, marriage is civil matter. Two people can get a marriage license, stand in front of a judge and get married without religion being involved at all and have a perfectly legal marriage. On the other hand, if two people are married in a church without obtaining a marriage license they do not have a legal marriage. So marriage, being a civil contract, should not have discriminatory rules applied to it.

It goes further than that, though. We have freedom of religion in this country which means that everyone is free to choose their own religion. Since there are plenty of religions that do not condemn the notion of gay marriage, Christian fundamentalists are violating this principle when they say that since they don't like the idea of gay marriage, it should be illegal for members of every religion. It's time Christians learned that they are free to follow whatever rules among themselves that they wish, but they don't have a right to make those rules laws for everyone to follow or they are violating the most basic principles America was founded on.

Her primary responsibility is being a mother to her out-of-wedlock child. How is giving that up to dance her way across Hollywood admirable in any way?

I have to agree with josieolsen. Bristol is doing the best she can (although I thought she'd be voted off 2 weeks ago). America loves the underdog. When Tonys partner (Adrianna??) was voted off I knew it was the same old show. It's not Bristols fault she inherited a fan base. Lets not run away with conspiracy theories. There was a lot of drama with Maks & Brandy, but what got me was the on air cat fight he had with Carrie Ann. I thought he was a pro? Other pros have felt slighted along the way, but handled it like the pros they are. As for same sex partners- try it for a few weeks and see if DWTS survives. BAD IDEA!!!

It is called fraud. Bristol, her mom, ABC and DWTS are all frauds. I don't blame Maks for being upset. I would be too. Bristol is in no position to talk trash about anyone, especially since she made all of those homophobic slurs. What a fake.ABC, DWTS and the Palin family have lost all credibility and integrity in my eyes. They are making a mockery of the show, the fans, and the dancers. Obviously, the mirror ball trophy has already been bought and paid for. It is also tacky of ABC to advertise mom's show on DWTS. Guess we know who backs them. Bow out Bristol. Can you really live with yourself knowing you did not earn that trophy? The girl cannot dance and worse of all, she doesn't even try. What kind of morals and values is this girl teaching her son? I threw up in my mouth when they announced Bristol was safe once again. Even the other stars and celebrities on the show were in disbelief. Did you all see the looks on Jennifer's and Derek's faces? I think everyone on the show knows their chances of winning just went up in smoke. Brandy did not deserve to go home. If Bristol wins, this show will no longer exist in my household. I am also a huge fan of Cheryl's, but she too got screwed. I have been rooting for Derek and Jennifer since day one. Go Jennifer and Derek!!!! I hope someone with real talent actually wins. Can you say rigged?I am also tired of hearing about how Kyle has no fan base. How many parents watch Disney channel with their children? I can't tell you how much I have. I don't care for him myself. Jennifer Grey hasn't done anything except for House, in how many years? She is a stay at home mom who wanted to do something for herself for a change. I am also a stay at home mom and I support what she is doing and she is good at it. Go Jennifer. Stop hating because she is talented.

I like the idea. I'm sure that the homophobes can find plenty of shows happy to exclude gay people, and DWTS shouldn't be pandering to bigotry anyway.

You are so right chriskl99. It is long past time for this type of prejudice to end. Science shows that homosexuality is a natural occurrence that appears in every species of bird and mammal on earth. It has also shown that there is a strong genetic component in humans. It is time for the minority that wishes to discriminate in this area to grow up and stop promoting hatred, violence, and discrimination against gays.

Dancing with the Stars should join the modern world and have same-sex couples.
