Mandy Moore Says 'The Little Mermaid' Inspired Her to Sing (VIDEO)

Since Mandy Moore lends her voice to the upcoming animated feature 'Tangled,' it's only fitting that she was inspired to sing at a young age by another famous animated character. On 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), Moore said Ariel of 'The Little Mermaid' put her on the path to become a singer.

"I wanted to be her," Moore said of Ariel. "I wanted to start singing because of her."

And yet, despite her role as a lead character in the upcoming Disney film, Moore said she almost didn't audition. "I had to audition several times," she said. "And I almost didn't because I didn't want to, sort of, be disappointed if it didn't come to fruition."
