Subway Exec Struggles to Make Sandwiches, Locks Himself in a Freezer on 'Undercover Boss' (VIDEO)

'Undercover Boss': 'Subway' Boss Struggles to Make Sandwiches, Locks Himself in the FreezerThe motto for the Subway chain of restaurants is "Eat Fresh." But no one's going to eat fresh -- or quickly -- if the chef gets locked inside the walk-in freezer. Which is what happens on 'Undercover Boss' (Sun., 9PM ET on CBS), when boss Don Fertman goes incognito.

Don is the Director of Development for Subway, and though he's worked there for 29 years, he doesn't how how to make a sub-style sandwich -- which is what the company is based on, after all. Now, Fertman poses as "John Wilson." But as he goes undercover through the South, Don talks too much and jokes around, frustrating the employees who try to train him.

First, Jessi Polk says he's "really slow," and relegates Don to taking out the trash. In Alabama, the manager calls Fertman a "Chatty Cathy," as he takes an agonizingly long time to build a single sandwich. A Subway in Orlando is Don's third chance -- will the third time be the charm?

Maybe not. In Orlando, 20-year-old manager Efrain Lozada is unimpressed. Efrain is a hard worker, and he's been named manager of the month, beating out 292 rivals. He puts everything he can into his job and he wants to build a better life: He's adopted, and dreams of adopting a child of his own. Efrain is stunned by how slow Don is, and by the way that Fertman keeps laughing at his own mistakes.

The final insult comes when Don locks himself inside the store's freezer. "How do you get out of here?" Don yells. " ... Help!" Will Don manage to escape? Will this teach to him become a better employee? And can "the boss" win Efrain's approval?

How insulting are producers and directors of Undercover Boss, Subway episode, just as the most current infuriating example. They staged a lame "I got locked in the freezer "episode....Really??? I mean they did think of putting a camerman in the freezer to film the shots of this Sr Vice Pres (too bad CEO's are not doing the shows much anymore, shame...) doing his first acting gig of "...oh "help," Efrain....I seem to be locked in....." in other words, people, it was a set up to make it more dramatic for TV. Walk in freezers are always built with self latching mechanisms, you CANNOT lock yourself in....by the way, how did Mr. Sr Vice Pres get out? On his own by walking out the dooor.......but he adds insult by saying "scary moment." This show obviously is not anything reality, as usual. I think the 3 employees that are selected to train this new person, with a full blown camera crew and makeup, etc..." for the lowest job possible (makes sense? It doesn't but ok, let's go with it because TV does need to be interestig). I really think the 3 employees are coached in the biggest way....to be tough or mean, or overly driven considering their low wage...and most of all they need to have a very sad tale to tell this complete new stranger with camera crew the most intimate details and problems in their lives during ther "15 minute break." Wow, I hope CBS' rip off show might think of some different ways to go about their show without offending the intelligence of anyone watching.....I really liked this NBC show at first, the concept, especially during summer hiatus when nothing else on...great....but then watching over half dozen and maybe up to 10 now, has anyone else realized every single plotline for the near hour show is EXACTLY EXACTLY the same.....and down to the misty eyed long distance phone call at night to the emotional family while lounging on their hourly rate motel bed......p.s. how about a black light test on those beds you're putting the Execs on? Notice I didn't say CEO because the show is obviously veering towards anyone in SR Mgmt (because the CEO's are supposedly too recognizable - oh gee, what to do?......)

Freakin stupid show at this point, I'm sorry. I'm really embarrassed how this show turned out.
