Jason Alexander Voices a Hypnotizing Shrink on 'American Dad' (VIDEO)

Jason Alexander Voices a Hypnotizing Shrink on 'American Dad'Therapy is a valuable resource. It can unravel deep-seated psychological problems; it can even be used to broaden the mind. Unless you use it to hypnotize your wife every year for 20 years, that is. Which is the slight minor issue that comes up on tonight's 'American Dad' (Sun., 9:30PM ET on Fox).

If you've been wondering why Stan and Francine Smith have such a trouble-free marriage -- well, look no further. (Okay, not that they exactly have a trouble-free marriage. But considering that Stan is a sexist occasional psychopath -- it's fairly trouble-free.)

It turns out that Mr. Smith has been taking his wife to a shrink for two decades. He provides their therapist Sal (voiced by Jason Alexander) -- with a list of things for her to love and a list of things to forget. Seems like a foolproof plan!

Or at least, it should be foolproof. Sal hypnotizes Francine into loving certain things (like her husband, and the acting skills of Emilio Estevez) and ignoring other things (like the way her husband actually acts). But this time, Sal has had enough -- and cancels the whole deal. Why? Because Stan has been coming there for 20 years, but has never bothered to share a sandwich with the shrink.

Now, Francine is un-hypnotized -- and is dealing with two decades of repressed anger and regret. (She expresses the "anger" by kneeing her husband in the groin.) And as for Stan -- well, he's dealing with a lot of regret too -- like, for instance, he's really regretting the fact the he didn't bring an extra sandwich.
