Craig Ferguson Feuds With the French Version of ... 'Craig Ferguson' (VIDEO)

Previously on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson encountered the evil twin version of himself; the "Bizarro" Craig, if you will. The man's name is Arthur Essebag, and -- cue ominous dramatic music -- he's French. Yes, yes, an evil Frenchman. Somehow, we are unsurprised.Arthur hosts the French talk show 'Ce Soir Avec Arthur,' which is cool. What's less cool is that he's ripped off Craig's opening credit sequence, down to the last detail. (Compare them here and here.) When Craig learned that Essebag had stolen his show's intro, he was outraged. But tonight, Arthur showed up on the 'Late Late Show' set, and we experienced round two: Real Craig Ferguson versus fake "Craig Ferguson."
What would that be like, when Craig met his evil doppelgänger? ... Well, it was a little weird. Luckily, Arthur employed all his smooth Gallic charm, leaving Ferguson to sputter impotently.
First, Arthur strolled suavely onto the stage, and began introducing the show: "Bienvenue!" he said. "Comment ça va?" But Craig wasn't about to let his studio be invaded by the French. "Hey!" the host yelled. "Whoa! No! ... You're doing my show! You're copying me!" Next, the pair rehashed the "Arthur stole 'The Late Late Show' credits" debate. But Monsieur Essebag had a clever response: He hadn't stolen Craig's title sequence -- rather, it was a homage.
The pair continued their mock-feud, as Craig asked Arthur some follow-up questions. "What about this morning then, when I saw you walking my dog?" Well, that was a homage as well. And when Craig saw the Frenchman kissing his wife? That was also ... a homage. In the end, Ferguson seemed convinced -- although maybe he was just won over by the sexy accent.
