Matt Lauer and Correspondent Jean Chatzky Have Giggle Fit on Air (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 30th 2010 12:00PM
It's hard to imagine packaged food being especially funny. But, Matt Lauer and financial correspondent Jean Chatzky seem to think it is. During a 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) segment on rising prices at the supermarket, Lauer and Chatzky find a phrase particularly amusing and burst into laughter.

Lauer points out that it's important for consumers to keep "the size of the package" in mind when buying food. Then, he's suddenly struck by the double entendre and starts to chuckle quietly. Eventually, his laughter spreads to Chatzky.

"I'm sorry. Something struck me as funny there," Lauer said.

Both Lauer and Chatzky attempt to carry on, but their giggle fit persists throughout the rest of the segment.

I was watching when this segment was on. I was laughing before Matt lost it. Talking about the size of the package was killing me. It's nice to know that these people are normal.

Are there really people that stupid, that they need these "geniuses" to give them such obvious "tips"? Is this show really worth sitting through 10 minutes of commercials, and then 5 minutes of "Coming up next", and " when we come back" for?

I watched this segment this morning as well. and I couldn't stop laughing, either! The term "the size of the pckage " was bad enough, but when Jean mentioned "shrinking the package", well...I lost it!
