Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth: 'Psych'

Spoilers AnonymousThis is Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth, a weekly column here at TV Squad where we discuss and give our two cents about recently released spoilers and how they may affect the storylines, shows and fans.

This in-depth version of the column goes hand in hand with our weekly spoilers column, in which we supply you with the dirt on some of the more popular shows on the air.

This week, we discuss spoilers for upcoming episodes of USA Network's 'Psych,' including intel about the season finale.

This week's episode is an homage to 'Twin Peaks' and will feature stars from the cult TV series including Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, Ray Wise. The 'Psych' theme song will be performed by Julee Cruise, who performed music during the original run of 'Twin Peaks.'

'Fire Walk With Me' ... As a huge fan of 'Twin Peaks' -- it is pretty much the first crime drama with a twist of weird that I remember watching over and over again (you had to watch more than once to make sense of everything!). I'm super excited that 'Psych' is doing an homage for the 20th anniversary of the cult series that will showcase the original 'Twin Peaks' cast. 'Psych' has been doing really well with homages and pop culture references, so I have total confidence that this 'Twin Peaks'-themed episode will be full of weirdness, craziness and nods to the original series.

On a side note, you may remember that Ray Wise guest starred as a priest last season on 'Psych.' Therefore, for continuity, the actor will reprise his 'Psych' role of Father Peter Westley in this week's 'Twin Peaks'-themed episode.

The season finale, titled 'Yin 3 in 2D,' will wrap up the Yin Yang storyline for good by revealing the identity of Mr. Yin. As expected, Ally Sheedy will reprise her role of Mr. Yang.

It's about time we get to meet Mr. Yin, no? It's understandable that series prefer to drag out their big reveals, such as this one, as long as they can to get viewers to return each week. However, it can also make viewers quite frustrated because the mystery is taking too long to get the pay off. 'Psych' was getting close to the latter, especially since the Yin Yang storyline was not an ongoing mystery for which we got clues here and there like CBS' 'The Mentalist' is doing with the Red John storyline. The Yin reveal will be quite welcome. Plus, wrapping the Yin Yang storyline doesn't mean it's the last we'll see of both criminals. After all, there could be a copy cat down the road and the team will need to seek advice from the Ys in order to wrap up their new case!

In other spoilers news:

- The December 8 episode will be titled "We'd Like to Thank The Acamedy." The title almost makes it sound like it will be an award show-themed episode but it will not. Instead, the episode will be an homage for the movie franchise'Police Academy.' The original 'Karate Kid,' Ralph Macchio, will guest star.

- The Christmas episode will be a take on the movie classic 'It's a Wonderful Life.' During the episode, Shawn gets a glimpse of what his friends/coworkers' lives would have been if he hadn't been around.

Which storyline are you most looking forward to? Do you think the series should have waited another season before wrapping up the Yin Yang storyline? Do you like themed/homage episodes? Share your two cents in comments below!

'Psych' airs on Wednesdays at 10PM ET on USA Network.
