Kardashian Kard Craziness -- the Sisters Cancel Their 'Possibly Illegal' Debit CardIf you love everything about the letter "K," the "Karsdashian Kard" was a great concept. But if you're a fan of fiscal responsibility, the "Kard" was a terrible, terrible idea. A few weeks ago, sisters Khloe, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian issued their own prepaid MasterCard -- and yes, its name really was spelled with that extra "K."'

The Kardashian Kard also featured a very "cleveage-y" photo of the trio. Sadly, the photo might be the only thing the Kard had going for it.

Less than a month later, the sisters have canceled the card. Yes, a Krazy Kard Kancelation Kontroversy has KO'ed Kim, Khloe and Kourtney! (Sorry, we had to get that out of our system.) But why did the sisters take the Kard off the market? 'Showbiz Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on HLN) has the scoop.

According to AOL TV's own Maggie Furlong, the Kardashians pulled the Kard after constant allegations that it was a "rip-off." Normal debit cards are free and don't charge for ATM withdrawals -- but the Kard cost $99.95 for the first year, plus $1.50 for every withdrawal. And the list of outrageous fees didn't end there ...

It cost $1 to deposit funds, $1.50 to speak to an operator, and $2 every time you used it to pay your bills. Plus $9.95 for a lost Kard, $6 to cancel it, and on and on. ... All in all, the terms of the Kard were so bad that they led consumer groups to protest. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal called the Kard "possibly illegal," adding that the fees were "pernicious and predatory."

Even the sultry picture of the sisters had its downside. Why? Because the photo could be used to target young adults, encouraging teenagers to buy the Kard. "I can't imagine [any adult] being proud to whip out a Kardashian credit card, with Kim's 'assets' front-and-center," Maggie said. And if any adult did use the Kard, they might have found themselves without any assets left -- monetary assets, that is.
