'The Sing Off' Premiere: Changes in Store for Season 2

'The Sing Off'Could a cappella music be going mainstream?

NBC's probably hoping so -- the second season of its surprise reality hit 'The Sing Off' premieres tonight, featuring ten a cappella groups from across the country vying for a $100,000 prize and a recording contract.

Puerto Rican group Nota walked away with the title last year, but second-place finishers the Tufts Beelzebubs are the ones still making headlines: the group arranged and recorded the 'Glee' hits 'Teenage Dream' and 'Hey Soul Sister.'

According to TV Guide, there will be several changes to the new season of the show. For starters, there are two more groups competing for the grand prize. That means tougher competition, said judge Shawn Stockman. "The acts that are on this show are serious. You can really tell that this is what they do, this is something that they take very seriously and it makes the show that much better. It gives it that much more validity and value."

An extra episode -- five instead of four, beginning tonight and airing every Monday and Wednesday until the live finale on Dec. 20 -- will allow for more groups to compete. "There was so much talent in the second season and we wanted to try and cover it as much as we could," said host NIck Lachey.

Below, a promo for this season.

I can already tell that the judges are biased. Tonight they left a group of OLD singers on the show when they sound just like every soul group from the last 40 years. Sure, they are pros, but they will never be able to sound like anything but what they have always sounded like. Don't get me wrong, they were very good, but the teenage group that left the show was much more refreshing.

That is just my opinion, brett - they seem to be the best of the 10 groups, they all have a chance and good luck to them all

If that's a real spoiler, I hope it will be removed. Spoiling the outcome of a series with no warning is just mean and selfish.
