Deidre Hall Talks About Her New Book and Returning to 'Days of Our Lives.' Plus: Win a 'DOOL' Giveaway!

Deidre HallThe sands of time have carried actress Deidre Hall from daytime drama to a new venture: writing cookbooks.

The former 'Days of Our Lives' star, who appeared on the soap for nearly 30 years before leaving in early 2009, stopped by the AOL TV offices to talk about her new book, 'Deidre Hall's Kitchen Close-Up,' as well as 'Days of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos' by 'Days' production executive Greg Meng.

Hall revealed how she got into the cookbook writing business. "The book was actually 35 years in the making," she said.

"The co-author and I, Lynne Bowman, have been friends since we were girls and we've spent years raising our children, living our lives and sitting at the kitchen table ... saying 'we should write these things down, we have all this information about health and nutrition.'"

Finally, they put pen to paper and what emerged was a cookbook focused on making healthy food with fresh ingredients and the highest-quality products. Sounds a lot like what First Lady Michelle Obama is championing, right?

"Well, Michelle Obama's kind of copying us ... just kidding!" Hall laughed.

When we polled our readers what they would ask Hall, of course many replied with the burning question: Will Hall ever return to 'Days of Our Lives'?

"Would I go back to 'Days'?" she mused. "Two years ago I would've said, 'Absolutely!'" But while she remains open to it, Hall also said she enjoyed writing and had plans for even more cookbooks.

To see what else she had to say about returning to 'Days of Our Lives,' as well as her holiday plans and more, watch the full interview!

We're giving four readers the chance to win a 'Days of Our Lives'-related book pack -- Deidre Hall's 'Kitchen Closeup,' 'Days of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos' and Ken Corday's 'The Days of Our Lives: The True Story of One Family's Dream and the Untold History of Days of Our Lives.'

I loved it when her real identical twin was on the show, they're so beautiful. It was so much fun to watch them!

Favorite Marlena moment...hmmm...

1) I love when Marlena came to see Stefano after John died with a gun threatening to shoot him. Classic!

2) When Marlena came back from the dead in '91 and saw John (Roman) for the first time in 5 years. It gets me every time I see it!

I just love Marlena (Deidre) in general! I hope she comes back and soon. The show isn't/hasn't been the same with her gone. It's just missing that special something and all the viewers still watching know what that "something" is.

My favorite moment will be when Marlena returns to Salem and discovers that Roman has possessed the body of Chris Kozichek!

It was in 2004, when you find out that Marlena is the serial killer, but you didn't know why. I thought to myself, she has been treating all these people over the years and she is sick herself. The best scene was after she kills Grandma Alice Horton and takes some of her famous doughnuts. She is eating one of them in her car and says, "Umm, I should have got her recipe before I killed her."

Favorite Marlena moment was when she and Roman first fall in love while he is protecting her from the Salem Strangler. Been watching DOOL for about 43 years and no matter how long I go between episodes, it usually only takes a couple of days to get caught up on the story lines. Gotta love the soaps!

My favorite Marlena moment was when she had to re-shoot a scene over and over in which she had to say the line "The chances of that are absolutely infinitessimal." She kept tripping on the last word to the point that in the last take the line morphed into "The chances of that are absolutely SLIM!"

She would have to Pay DOOl to take her back. She was one of the most overpaid/overrated people on daytime, along with Victoria Wyndham and Kim Zimmer, these 3 basically killed "their" shows. DOOl has been doing much better and IS a better show with out her....Smart move DOOl. if she comes back, i tune out!
