Conan O'Brien on Jay Leno: 'There's Nothing For Us to Talk About' (VIDEO)

Conan O'Brien on Jay Leno: 'There's Nothing For Us to Talk About' Someday, in the distant feature, TV viewers may still be talking about the Conan O'Brien vs. Jay Leno battle. Ages and ages hence, we might still be discussing the feud with a sigh -- talking about how two roads diverged, and about how two men feuded over the same talk show.

... But on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), Conan tried to emphasize that he was already over the whole 'Tonight Show' thing. When Larry King asked O'Brien if he had talked to Jay Leno recently, Conan made this reply: "No. ... There's nothing, really, for either of us to talk about."

So Conan was "over it" -- but was he over it in a "I don't want to think about it anymore" kind of way? Or has he made his peace with the whole affair?

Certainly, when talking about the history of the 'The Tonight Show,' Conan seemed very much at peace. He described a phone conversation that he had with legendary host Johnny Carson --- back when O'Brien first learned that he would be inheriting the job. Conan said the call with Mr. Carson was an "amazing experience." And he added this: "There are certain things people can't take away from you." Not even NBC officials or Mr. Leno, apparently. "Whatever else has happened, I'll always have that."

So Michelle, if Letterman rocks and Jay never had it, then explain to me why Jay always beat out Letterman in the ratings. And the tonight show ratings only started to slip and were finally beaten when Jay left and Conan took over. Letterman could never beat the Tonight Show when Jay was there, but easily took the number one spot away from the Tonight show as soon as Conan took over.

Again.....Conan LOST his show because his ratings were horrible.
If his ratings were up to par, he'd still be there.
Leno got a raw deal, asked to leave a show that he was beating his competition (Letterman).
Any anger on Conan's part should be directed at NBC, not Leno.

Reasearch your facts, people. Jay Leno gave NBC a 5 year notice that he was leaving and the network looked at several replacements before choosing Conan. History proved Leno to be a sneaky snake during the Letterman ordeal (have you people forgotten what Jay did back then???) Jay's not funny & not b/c of his age since Letterman still rocks, Jay just doesn't have "IT" and never did.
Leno will soon fade to black... C'mon Jimmy Falon.

Actually we HAVE researched our facts. When Jay gave his announced retirement five years ago it was not his idea. He was forced into giving that announcement because Conan had blackmailed NBC into agreeing to let him have the show in five years. Conan knew that Jay planned on letting him take over when he retired. There was no disagreement on that. But Conan betrayed Jay and went to NBC and told them he didn't want to wait. He told them he would leave NBC and go to a competing network unless they promised him that they would let him take over in five years. Conan knew very well that meant that Jay would be forced to step aside. That was a betrayal to Jay who was going to let Conan have the show when he was ready. After being told by NBC that they were giving the show to Conan in five years Jay had no choice but to announce his retirement. It was nothing more than when companies sometimes fire their executives but gracefully let them turn in their resignation first to spare them embarrassment and keep their good job record. Conan back-stabbed Jay, but failed to stay afloat. The joke turned out to be on him after all. And now, to save face he tries to blame it all on Jay. I guess that works on those who don't know the real story. People like you.

As I See it

Conan has been in therapy for years. He needs to go and get more. I've never seen anyone except Letterman having such a prolonged public tantrum. If I were Jay, I wouldn't call the guy either. Conan is such a princess.

Conan is a crybaby; not funny, not intelligent, no class, should be on local cable, pay to play, etc. he'll go broke, but who cares? Luckiest man in America; and hasn't the sense to realize Jay never was the bad guy, conaN himself is and was. What a waste.

Its all about ratings, people. Conan's show did not make it and neither did Jay's 10:00 pm show. Either the numbers are there or they're not. Jay had been a consistant hit for NBC...thats all that matters. The network made a huge error in trying to push Jay out before he was ready to go.
