Golden Globe Nominations 2011 : 'Glee,' 'Good Wife,' 'Boardwalk Empire' Lead 2011 Nominees

Golden Globe Nominations for Glee Good Wife
The usual suspects dominated the 2011 Golden Globe nominations Tuesday morning. Last year's comedy winner, 'Glee,' as well as award favorites 'Modern Family' and 'The Good Wife' earned multiple nods across the television categories.

Many previous nominees and winners -- including 'Mad Men,' Michael C. Hall and Julianna Margulies -- again received accolades from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

But there were surprises and newcomers, as well, such as 'The Big Bang Theory' breaking into the best comedy category and nominations for Piper Perabo for 'Covert Affairs' and Scott Caan for 'Hawaii Five-0.' Two new shows, HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' and AMC's 'The Walking Dead' broke into the best drama ranks, and actress Katey Sagal received her first nomination (for 'Sons of Anarchy') since 1994.

'Glee' led all nominees with nods in the best comedy, best actor (Matthew Morrison), best actress (Lea Michele), best supporting actress (Jane Lynch) and best supporting actor (Chris Colfer). Emmy winner 'Modern Family' also garnered nominations for best comedy and best supporting actress (Sofia Vergara).

On the drama side, 'The Good Wife' earned best drama, best actress (Margulies) and best supporting actor (Chris Noth) nods, though best supporting actress Emmy winner Archie Panjabi was snubbed. Meanwhile, the Prohibition-era 'Boardwalk Empire' racked up nominations for stars Steve Buscemi and Kelly Macdonald, as well as for best drama.

The hit apocalyptic zombie drama 'The Walking Dead,' one of the fall's most buzzed-about shows didn't receive any acting nominations, but broke into the very tight best drama category.

I am glad Katey Segal got the nom. I love SoA and she is great in it. I wish Charlie Hamm was nominated, he's great. SoA will hopefully get its due because its one of the best drama's out there.

I didn't see Mad Men or John Hamm nominated or maybe I missed it. I'm also disappointed that Fringe was forgotten. Those two shows are the few shows I bother to watch.

The best drama category is full with great movies. The Fighter looks really good. There's a terrific documentary by DCTV called "High On Crack Street" and it's about Dicky Eklund, Christian Bale's real-life character. It's really worth a viewing. You can watch it free at http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/high_on_crack_street_lost_lives_in_lowell/

Or check out the DVD at DCTV's store. http://shop.dctvny.org/products/High_on_Crack_Street_Lost_Lives_in_Lowell-20-0.html

"...and the omission of Katey Sagal for her work in 'Sons of Anarchy"

By omission, you mean inclusion? Same thing, I guess...
