Rip Torn Admits Breaking Into Bank With a Gun

Rip TornRip Torn has pleaded guilty to breaking into a bank while drunk and carrying a loaded gun. We bet Arthur would never have come up with that crazy idea on 'The Larry Sanders Show.'

Prosecutors say the Emmy-winning Torn pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from the incident that happened earlier this year: Reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and the illegal carrying of a firearm. He was arrested back in January after police found him inside a Bancorp branch in Litchfield, Connecticut.

Torn was given a two-and-half year suspended sentence and three years of probation. Conditions of the sentence include a ban on possessing guns as well as random drug and alcohol tests.



Prosecutors had said Torn was so intoxicated during his bank break-in that he believed he was at home and had left his hat and boots by the door. A lawyer for the 79-year-old actor said his client was thankful no-one had been injured in the incident and that he had been spared a jail term.

Rip, I wish you safety and wellness. Thank you for all the wonderful roles you played over the years.

As for all the shockingly hateful (and WAY off-subject) comments: what is wrong with you people? Many people, as they reach older ages, have issues that make them seem distanced from the good and honorable lives they've lived for decades.

How about a little kindness?
Or is that just too much for you?

Can't believe comment compared his act to that of a tornado...and said "it couldn't be helped" Really? Are you serious? Geez....some comments are so damn dumb!!! Of course it could've been helped!! Apparently a tornado can't be....but his moronic act sure as hell could've been. Some analogy!
That was second comment posted....after reading it's stupidity, couldn't be bothered reading more. Hope they weren't/aren't all as ignorant.

Diane Downs, who killed one child and wounded two others; Susan Smith, who drowned her two boys by buckling them into their car seats and driving the car into a lake--and blaming "the black guy;" Ted Bundy, serial killer; John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer, serial killers; Andrea Yates who drowned her five babies in the bath tub. Ah, the list of "your people" goes on and on. You come from fine stock.

You people & the race card. Old white man gets probation, young black man gets 2 years....must be race related, not the fact that the young rapper is a convicted fellon and ANY fellon cought with a gun goes to jail
