Jessica Alba At Work On Newest Twitter-Turned-Sitcom Project

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 15th 2010 5:30PM
Jessica AlbaIn the latest "Twitter accounts becoming TV shows" news, Jessica Alba is at work developing a show based on Kelly Oxford's Twitter account and blog. The network? Take a guess -- CBS.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Alba is set to executive produce Oxford's script, titled 'Mother of All Something.' Jhoni Marchinko of 'Will & Grace' fame is supervising the pilot.

Oxford's blog and Twitter chronicle her thoughts on life, motherhood and pop culture. She has more than 66,000 Twitter followers and an active following on Tumblr.

Some choice Tweets from Oxford:

"If I walk into an Urban Outfitters for 25 mins to see what it's about, and every song they play is on my iPod, I have to kill myself right?"

"Sarah Palin is going to Haiti? Haven't these people been put through enough this year?"

"Just got the youngest kid vaccinated, sorry Jenny McCarthy."

This is the third project based on a Twitter account in development at CBS. The network launched its first series based on a Twitter, '$#*! My Dad Says,' this past fall.

Ashton Kutcher is developing the other two projects, 'Dear Girls' and 'Shh ... Don't Tell Steve.' Given that the ratings for '$#*! My Dad Says' have been mediocre, it's interesting to see that CBS is pursuing more projects from the social media arena.

Wow. 66,000 followers. That's 0.022 percent of the population of the United States, or almost the total population of Youngstown, Ohio. Amazing. The Nielson ratings they'll rack up with that project are guaranteed to be astounding.
