Why is a 'Bachelorette' Contestant Joining 'Skating With the Stars'?
Please explain this to us, TV Squad readers, because we're not sure we understand this bit of breaking news: According to E! Online, former 'Bachelorette' contestant Jonathan "The Weatherman" Novack is joining 'Skating With the Stars' on Monday. Yes, this Monday, which is supposed to be the last judged performance by the three finalists. E! reports that Novack has been training along with the rest of the contestants as an understudy in case anything happened, and he's been called up after Brandon Mychal Smith's departure due to illness on Monday night.
We're confused -- shouldn't Novack have competed last week, when Smith first got sick? Or at least Monday night, since Smith (and the producers) knew ahead of time that there would be an extra spot?
The three finalists -- Bethenny Frankel, Rebecca Budig and Jonny Moseley -- are competing in the final round on Monday night, with the winner announced on Tuesday. Adding another contestant would completely mess with that lineup.
Novack will reportedly be skating with Smith's partner, Keauna McLaughlin. Where did those two find time to rehearse together before Smith's illness? Unless they had something to do with the food poisoning ...
A-ha! Now things are coming together.
Seriously, though, how is this going to work? We really don't understand.
