Wynonna Judd on 'Larry King Live': 'I Almost Died Twice This Year' (VIDEO)
Singer Wynonna Judd has had a tough year. But she's a survivor. And she's never been shy about discussing her personal difficulties on the air -- including her arrest for drunk driving, her struggles with her weight, her divorce, and the arrest of her ex-husband ... Wynonna has revealed a lot about herself -- always with the goal of sharing her mistakes in order to help others.Tonight, on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), Wynonna did it again. Accompanied by her mom, Naomi Judd, Wynonna said that she had nearly died twice this year -- once during a collision with another car. " ... What do you mean, you almost died?" King asked.
Wynonna first discussed how she had near-fatal blood clots in her heart, lungs and legs. This took place after she underwent stomach surgery this past March. Then, in July, Wynonna's rental car was hit head-on by another driver. The man had fallen asleep, and the force of the crash equaled a hundred-mile-an-hour impact. Wynonna's daughter Grace and her tour manager Tammy were also in the car.
She survived, as did her daughter and manager. Wynonna thinks they lived through the crash because her manager turned the car at the last possible second -- and also because the rental car company had upgraded her to an SUV, a random decision that they made because they "loved her music."
"[It was] a "God wink," she told Larry King, referring to her miraculous survival. "You just kinda go, 'Wow.'" Wynonna didn't let either crisis interfere with her love of singing. She returned to the studio with blood clots still in her lungs. The car crash took place while she was on tour, and Wynonna Judd performed in front of an audience the very next night.
