'Hardball' Wonders If John McCain Has Become the 'Male Version of Sarah Palin' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Dec 21st 2010 6:00PM
John McCain was once the toast of the establishment media, for the maverick-y ways the Republican senator often bucked GOP orthodoxies.

These days, McCain has positioned himself as a right-wing standard bearer, with his strident opposition to "Don't Ask Don't Tell," and a new, harder line on illegal immigration.

On 'Hardball With Chris Matthews,' (weekdays, 5PM ET on MSNBC), establishment media types Richard Wolffe and Michelle Bernard bemoaned McCain's conversion.

"Here's a guy who taunted candidate Obama saying 'you've never bucked your party,' " Wolffe said to Matthews. "What's (McCain) doing now? He's the far right guy."

"Absolutely," MSNBC regular Bernard agreed. "He has gone so far right ... he has become his former vice presidential nominee, he has become the male version of Sarah Palin."

Does this mean we'll soon be seeing 'John McCain's Arizona' on TLC? Coyotes beware!
