CBS Midseason Schedule: 'Blue Bloods,' 'Defenders' Move

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 22nd 2010 10:10AM
Tom Selleck, Blue BloodsComfortable with your current CBS viewing habits? Well, it's all about to change -- sort of.

The network announced its midseason schedule, shuffling some hit shows to make room for some new additions to the lineup. Those of you who were looking forward unwinding with Tom Selleck on these upcoming cold Friday nights, that luxury is no more. CBS is moving 'Blue Bloods' to Wednesday nights at 10PM for a few weeks.

"We're in the fortunate position of having a schedule with many successful shows and very few holes," Kelly Kahl, senior executive vice president of primetime for CBS, said in a statement. "This allows us to be very targeted with our mid-season series. These are moves that maintain the core stability of a successful schedule, while giving us multiple looks for the future at a few time periods."

In addition to the 'Blue Bloods' change -- don't worry, it heads back to Fridays at 10PM eventually -- 'The Defenders' moves to Fridays at 8PM. '$#*! My Dad Says' makes way for 'Rules of Engagement' on Thursdays, with 'Mad Love' taking the Monday slot once occupied by 'Rules.'

April 1st CBSW/Blue Bloods story line unrealistic. You need better writers even if you do have a good cast. Any logical story line would have the officers family immediately protected and specifically had the direct intervention of that officer all pretty stupid all it does is unsettle the viewer, enough traedegys given todays social/ political /economic enviorment. You'll loose viewers who are unsettled enough already without watching what should be a good cast have to act out a script that just unsettles instead of just entertaining them!

I love this show but please give Tom Selleck more to do on the show. There is not enough of him in the show.

I'm sick of these live shows running to long and making everything after them come on at a later time! The DVR does not know a previous show ran long and needs to compensate for that. I missed the last half hour of
The Defenders because of that new dance show. GRRRRRRRRRR.

I was just thinking, tonight, how badly CBS messed up a fairly perfect line up when they moved everything around this year. Up until this year, I was fairly set on my TV watching and didn't have to change channels for the most part. Now they are going to further water-down the lineup with some pretty lame shows, and the ones I like are being shuffled, never to be seen again.

I also agree, don't mess with Criminal Minds!

Perhaps they can add one more reality show -- $#*! MY DAD PROGRAMS ON CBS ! One more God-awful reality / dance / performance show, and I'll watch Discovery and BBS America FOR THE REST OF TIME...

I like the Shatner show (bleep, my Dad said) although the bald son and wife characters are not well developed and would not be missed. Everything else....... the live in son, Shatner, the neighbor and the recent dmv worker/waiter/maid are a scream. The really good stuff took too long to develope. Perhaps the producers figured it was a good throw away. Will hate to see it go if it does.

I used to watch CBS from 8-11 five days a week, but with all of the stupid reality shows and time changes, I don't watch nearly as much. Doesn't that make the sponsors unhappy? Sunday night at 10 is another bad slot that means a series is going out...CSI Miami...bye-bye. People watch what they like when it fits their schedules. When it is changed, they become drop-outs!
