After one year on a popular science fiction shows, most actors come to accept the craziness that comes with their loyal fandom. Make that role 'Doctor Who,' and that obsession gets multiplied tenfold.Matt Smith, who has been portraying the iconic Time Lord for the past season, talked on 'The Graham Norton Show' (Sat. 10PM on BBCA) about how his grandfather is noticing his success. Particularly when it comes to fan mail; we're sure you can imagine what types of fan mail Smith gets from time to time.
He related the first time his grandfather got involved with looking through and responding to the mail. "The first one he opened started with, 'I want to give you a--'" but rather than finish the off-color thought, Smith nodded twice.
"Replace the words," he said. The letter went on to explain in great detail what other services the woman could offer him. His grandfather took to it rather well, and even sent back a cheeky response: "Sorry, Matt can't make it, but I might."
While it's not a private visit from the Doctor himself, a personal response from the Doctor's grandfather isn't all that bad. Certainly it would make for an interesting and unique conversation piece on the convention circuit.
