'Cake Boss' Blows Up Some Cakes (VIDEO)

'Cake Boss' Blows Up Some CakesExplosions + reality TV makes everything better. Probably. (For proof of this, here's a video of sand castles exploding in reverse on a reality show. See? Explosions can even make sand castles entertaining. Sort of.)

But somehow, cakes plus explosions does't seem like a natural mix. After all, cakes are ... something you'd like to eat. Demolishing them is such a waste. And as your mom might remind you: waste not, want not; you should always clean your plate, etc.

Still, explosions are what we got on 'Cake Boss: Next Great Baker' (Mon., 9PM ET on TLC). Two teams competed to create the best cake for a special effects company. Host Buddy Valastro didn't like one of the cakes, so he had it blown up. And then he blew up the other one.

The teams had to make pastries incorporating pyrotechnics, but both teams' fireworks fizzled. All of this provided the thinly-veiled excuse to blow up some cakes -- which we suspect was the goal no matter what happened on the show.

In the end, contestant Pamela Ahn was sent home from the losing team. Meanwhile, other players were injured while trying out special effects for their cakes. Brian Stevens went to the hospital after a cup of burning alcohol seared his hand, and Megan Rountree was knocked out of the competition after a fog machine landed on her ankle. See, blowing up cakes just equals bad karma all around.

It didn't matter what happened to Megan, she had immunity.

You were NOT paying attention. Megan was not knocked out of the competition. She had to go to the doctor and missed the explosions, but she's back in the running.

Blowing up food? How distasteful, given the number of people in this country who don't have enough to eat. How sad.

I agree with Carlene...
but Megan's ankle got hit with the air compressor for the airbrush machine, not the fog machine! and last I saw brian did treat his own hand, and he wasnt burned by hot alchol his hand was cut when the box truck stopped short and he went flying forward. As Carlene said GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

First...Buddy did not blow up the ladies' cake..DREW (the guest judge)blew it up. Buddy blew up the men's cake after calling it a "dud".
Second...Brian did NOT go to the hospital. Unless they did not show him going, he simply treated the nasty burn himself and got back at it.
Third, Megan did NOT get "knocked out of the competition". SHE went to the hospital, was treated for a "deep bone bruise" and was back for the ending of the show on crutches(she had immunity) and was the first excused from the elimination process! If you are going to "review" the show...please get it right! Oh..and you were right that Pam was eliminated...WTG!
