'Million Dollar Money Drop' Host Kevin Pollak Speaks

by Jean Bentley, posted Dec 28th 2010 10:00AM
Kevin PollakAmidst all this controversy surrounding 'Million Dollar Money Drop' and its vaguely worded Post-it question, the show's host would like to remind you of one thing: The couple in question lost anyway.

"They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what," Kevin Pollak told The Hollywood Reporter. "They got the last question wrong. None of the clips show the last question."

Pollak remained silent during the initial back-and-forth between official statements from executive producer Jeff Apploff and angry Internet masses, who pointed out that Post-it notes were introduced earlier than the Sony Walkman and a couple's answer was actually correct.

After initially standing by the show's answer (and directing further questions to 3M, which manufactures Post-its and provided the show its research), Apploff released a statement on Friday saying that Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti would be invited back to compete again, something Pollak agrees with.

"I say right on," Pollak told THR of a do-over episode. "But now they are saying there's too much pressure? Oh my God! Way to get the country to turn against you."

Have to leave one drop zone empty. Can't put money on both zones!

I saw another show where the contestants benefitted from the wrong answer. 2 Lungs weigh more than a brain. The couples put 2/3 of their $ on the brain and were credited with a correct answer. The brain weighs 3 pounds and 2 lungs weigh over 10 lbs. The thing I hate about the questions is that they don't say "according to". Stupid people messing up a good game.

Yes...Lou ...I agree with you...I saw that episode...the lungs do weigh more than the brain...the couple put most of their money on brain and the lungs actually weigh more...what's up with that. Only 6 shows and for a major network they can't seem to be accurate with the correct information...that seems a bit out of whack to me.

I actually started to like the show but not anymore and i definetly do not like how Kevin Pollack handled himself...because, like a good portion of the people posted, that couple lost the momentum and really lost confidence and they may have answered differently going into the last question with alot more money that the $20,000.

Just one more reason to turn off FOX

This show is good. I hope FOX does not screw up again. I think Wayne Brady would be a better host than Kevin Pollack. He's too stiff.

What-The?

I agree with you "Stank" I also say a few should lose their jobs for stupid mistakes. Let them see what it feels like to lose a large sum of money, I'm sure they make a pretty good sum.

Sorry, Kevin, but you are so wrong. If they (producers, network, show host, etc.,) want to make it right, they should give the couple the $800,000.00 and let that be a "good faith" way of making up for their error. The couple gave the correct answer and for this they were falsely and fraudulent induced to continue.... It's time to make this right; pay them the money...all of it...every last penny of $800,000.00.... To hell with going back on....why?...so you can get shilled a second time....hire a lawyer and sue for fraud.

Note to the producers......When producing a television game show, making sure you have the correct answers for your questions would be the most important part of the show. Screw them they f'd up, make them pay this couple their million. The emotional crash they must have had when they were told of their answer being wrong must have been devastating. There is no way they gave their best effort on the last question. BTW, Kevin Pollack should have kept his mouth shut. He looks like an even bigger idiot now.

The Walkman wasn't the Walkman when it first came out. It was the Soundabout it had a differnt name just like the Post it Note

The Sony Walkman sold in US stores beginning June 1980,
The Post-It became available in US stores April 1980. Someone just got their facts mixed up. The Walkman sold in Japan in 1979 but the Post-it note was sold in 4 states under another name in 1977.
