Appearing on 'The O'Reilly Factor' (weekdays, 9PM ET on Fox News) Bill O'Reilly's go-to media critic Bernie Goldberg gushed about Oprah Winfrey's new television network (OWN) and its potential to trigger positive social change."What (Winfrey) is trying to do with this new network is a very good thing" Goldberg said. "She wants a network with no cynicism, with no mean-spiritedness."
"I hope (Winfrey's) idealism is contagious," Goldberg said. "I hope it spreads to certain other cable channels, and I hope it spreads to the guy walking down the street yelling into his cell phones dropping F-bombs, and I hope it spreads to the dark corners of the lunatic asylum that is the World Wide Web."
Despite his effusive praise, Goldberg began the segment by saying he's never watched Winfrey and never intends to because he's "not part of her target audience." Come on Bernie, if idealism really is so contagious, don't you want to help spread that disease?
