Alec Baldwin Wants to Serve His Country -- By Running for Office (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Jan 6th 2011 6:30PM
During an interview with Eliot Spitzer on 'Parker Spitzer' (weekdays, 8PM ET on CNN), Alec Baldwin expressed an interest in running for elected office. When pressed by Spitzer as to why he'd give up acting to become a politician, Baldwin stated it was his desire to serve his country.

"I can't go to Iraq. I can't go to Colorado Springs to the Air Force Academy and train to be a fighter pilot and drop bombs on Pakistan. If I could I might, if I thought it was the answer. I want to serve my country and the only way at the age of 52 years old I can serve my country now (is to run for office.)"

On behalf of all Americans (and also the people of Pakistan, apparently) we'd like to tell Baldwin he already served his country plenty that time he bravely hunted the Red October.

I thought it interesting that Alec Baldwin and Elliot Spitzer were both guests at the Forum on Law, Culture and Society. I wonder if they met there.
