Debbie Reynolds Jokes About Her Three Marriages on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)
Debbie Reynolds has a great sense of humor about her life -- in particular her stormy marriages. On 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) she responded to the question "What was your longest marriage?" with a typical Reynolds' comeback: "About 20 seconds."
"I was married three times," she said. "And then three strikes and you're out."
Reynolds was first married to singer Eddie Fisher, who left her for Elizabeth Taylor after three years; then to shoe magnate Harry Karl, who lost his and Reynolds' money to gambling ("It was only about $50 million so it wasn't important ... I could have shopped for two days"); and then to Virginia real estate developer Richard Hamlett, who helped her develop the Debbie Reynolds' Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which went bankrupt before she divorced him.
Reynolds' appearance on 'The Talk' coincides with HBO's presentation of daughter Carrie Fisher's autobiographical stage show, 'Wishful Drinking,' in which Fisher airs dirty linen on her life. Like mother, like daughter.
