David Letterman and Seth Rogen Smash Fruit and More With a Giant Gavel (VIDEO)

Seth Rogen, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Tonight on the 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS), David Letterman channeled his inner Gallagher, taking a giant gavel and smashing fruit on his desk. But when that proved not to be impressive enough, he moved on to statuary.

Guest Seth Rogen was hoping for a finale with Letterman smashing the big mic. Not one to leave a guest disappointed, Letterman brought out the big mic and gave Rogen the gavel, so that he could do the honors.

The piece of equipment proved more durable than perhaps either of them realized, but Rogen kept at it with a childlike glee until he finally managed to start breaking it down into its component pieces.

Who needs intellectual conversation, or even verbal shilling of Rogen's 'Green Hornet' project, when you can just have your guests come out and break stuff? Hey, it's been working for Jerry Springer all these years.

Letterman stopped being funny over a decade ago. He is nothing but a pathetic ass at this point! Why he is still on TV is beyond me. Maybe there was nobody with a modicum of talent available!

Wow. This board is either full of Leno fans or Palin fanatics. Such weird hatred of something they clearly didn't even watch.

This little bit was just a few minutes of the show.. trying to find something to do with the giant Gavel his staff made for him. It had NOTHING to do with politics - except for the fact that it was a joke about the speaker's new giant gavel (which EVERYONE has been making fun of). Aside from the size of the gavel, it had nothing to do with the GOP or poltics.

As I said before, it was also not stolen from Gallagher. He talked about Gallagher before this segment and after it. They gave all credit to Gallagher for the bit.

Geez. Let go of your weird hatred of this comedian. He makes fun of the same things Leno does and SNL and every other comedy show on TV.

He didn't steal it from Gallagher (or however you spell his name)... they talked about him all night. They made it very obvious that it was his act.

And yes, the giant gavel was a joke about the new speaker's giant gavel. The smashing stuff.. well that was just Gallagher, that had nothing to do with politics. Dave's staff made him the giant gavel without writing any material for it so Dave was trying to find something to do with it.
