Jennifer Hudson Speaks About Telling Her Story Through Music on 'Early' (VIDEO)

When Jennifer Hudson released her self-titled debut album in 2008, she was delivering on the promise of her talent revealed by 'American Idol.' Things are a bit different for her new album, due in February. Hudson spoke of what she called an "evolution" on 'The Early Show' (Weekdays, 7AM on CBS) today.

"Everything is new, in a way," she said. "I've matured in so many different ways."

Hudson worked with Alicia Keys on the new album, and spoke of how Keys explained that Hudson is an inspiration to people. Hudson hopes the music is an extension of that inspiration.

"I hope to uplift people through it," she said. "I'm like, wow, people are watching Jennifer. Let me give you something to look at. Let me give you something to listen to. Let me tell my story."
