'Chelsea Lately': Zach Gilford Won't Admit His Girlfriend Is Backstage (VIDEO)

It visibly pains Zach Gilford to talk about his private life. But a woman accompanied the 'Friday Night Lights' actor to the set of 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). Did he not realize to whom he'd be speaking?

His first response to Chelsea Handler's inquiry about her was, "I don't know who you're talking about."

The host kept pushing the topic, then added the unknown woman into a conversation about Hawaii. "Does she go back to Honolulu with you -- the girl that you're not penetrating that's sitting in the back?" she asked. He still wouldn't budge. Handler took a different angle: "You should let people know that you have a girlfriend so that girls like me don't hit on you."

Gilford eventually used the "girlfriend" word, and Handler took her victory as evidence of superior journalism skills.
