If Matt Lauer ever loses interest in being a television host, he may have a career as a minor league pitcher. On this morning's 'Today' (Weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Lauer introduced an interview segment with Kevin James and Vince Vaughn from outside the studio, about thirty feet from the window behind which the two actors were standing.Lauer had a snowball, and James was playing catcher, signaling what Lauer should throw. Lauer, a southpaw, lobbed the ball and delivered a perfect pitch that would have hit James right in the mitt. Impressed, James made the umpire's signal for a strike.
In the interview, Vaughn complimented Lauer on the throw, which Lauer identified as a slider, even though he said James had been calling for a fastball. "It was the fastball," James said, "you fought me off."
