'The Big Bang Theory' Renewed for 3 More Seasons

by Chris Harnick, posted Jan 12th 2011 2:15PM
The Big Bang TheoryIn a genius move, CBS has renewed 'The Big Bang Theory' for three more seasons, through 2014.

"It doesn't take a theoretical physicist to see why this show is a BIG part of our comedy future," Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment president, said in a statement. "From ratings to critical acclaim to pop culture buzz, it's struck a chord on all levels.

"The creative genius of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and the on-camera talents of an amazing young ensemble have created a comedy that will entertain viewers for a long time," she said. "We're proud to partner with Warner Bros. on another highly successful, long-running comedy."

'The Big Bang Theory' stars Emmy-winner Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. After its move to Thursday nights, the series has been averaging 13.89 million viewers and ended 2010 as the No. 1 scripted series in adults 18-49.

Over the summer the cast became embroiled in contract negotiations, finally settling on $200,000 per episode for each of the three main actors.

"We are delighted and grateful that CBS has once again rewarded THE BIG BANG THEORY with a multiyear renewal," Peter Roth, president of Warner Bros. Television, said. "This is a testament to the inspired and brilliant work of the show's entire creative team, and we look forward to continuing this highly successful partnership."

Great show, and I hope it lasts forever. They are all terrific, and compliment each other. It's sweet, funny, and hillarious.

They moved it because they thought it was strong enough to stand on its own rather than just picking up 2 and a half men's leftovers. They have two successful shows so they broke them up and followed them with two new shows in hopes that people would stick around after the show and check those out. In theory it's a great idea but it does mess with a lot of people's viewing schedule.

They keep moving the show around to different days in an attempt to kill the show which ratings are already dropping because I know a lot of people who thought it was already cancelled. I like the show but I'm tired of trying to find it on a different night and time every week. Whoever is running CBS has got to be the stupidist person who ever lived. Why would you take a good show and deliberately try to kill it? What a moron!

It's time that they remove Hawaii Five-o. It's pitiful compared to the original show.
