Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa Describe Their Good Cop/Bad Cop Bedtime Story Routine (VIDEO)

Kelly Ripa's husband, actor Mark Consuelos, filled in for Regis Philbin today on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (Weekdays, Syndicated), and used the opportunity to share a charming family anecdote about their son's storytime. Consuelos has been reading him 'The Creature from the Black Lagoon,' and bringing his hand up over the back of the book whenever it mentions a scary claw. The couple's son like the prop-use, but it scares him a little too. Consuelos usually re-assures him, saying "Listen, it's fine, nothing's going to happen." But recently he couldn't help but take the joke to the next level.
One night when Consuelos left had finished reading him the story, he heard his son getting up out of bed to turn on the light. When his son started to open the door, Consuelos couldn't help himself, and, still playing the monster, jumped from behind the door and roared him.
"It was so much fun, until Ma..." Consuelos said, pointing at Ripa and making a face, which prompted Ripa to jump up and take on an old woman's voice, "I came in with muh cane, and I said, 'what's goin' on in here? What's all this happiness about?'"
We have a tough time imagining Ripa as a stern, disciplinarian mom, but somebody's got to keep all that fun under control, right?
