'The Colbert Report'While New Technology companies are still struggling in many cases to figure out how to make money with the Internet, 50 Cent seems to have it figured out. Reportedly, the rapper made $8 million for simply giving a company a shout-out on his Twitter feed.

He didn't even use all 140 characters, Stephen Colbert pointed out on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM on Comedy Central). "He could have made an extra half mil just by adding ROTFL," added Colbert. "Which in this case would stand for Radically Overstepping The Financial Laws."

The Tweet reads -- we'll be looking for our check in the mail -- as follows: "HNHI is the stock symbol for TVG there launching 15 different products they are no joke get in now." Eight million dollars and he doesn't even have to spell the word "they're" right?

Stocks of H&H Imports rose 290% based on multiple Tweets by 50 Cent, but now the SEC is looking into whether or not he broke any laws, according to Pro Publica. He owns millions of shares in the company and may have artificially pumped the stock in order to dump shares at an inflated value.

Colbert, however, is more impressed that 50 Cent figured out how to make money off of Twitter. "That is something not even Twitter has done," he said. Now the question will be if he's legally allowed to keep it.
