Capt. Mark Kelly Talks to Diane SawyerABC will air the first interview with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' husband, astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly, since the Tucson shootings.

The interview will form a special edition of '20/20' -- 'The Congresswoman and the Astronaut: An American Story of Love and Strength' -- on Tuesday night.

According to ABC News, Sawyer sat down with Kelly over the weekend at the hospital where his wife is being treated after being shot in the brain. He opened up about the "extraordinary progress" she's making every day, and he even said that he'd be willing to meet with the parents of accused shooter, Jared Loughner.

Kelly will reportedly talk "about the moment he heard the tragic news, the emotional bedside vigil he has kept since, and how the nation's outpouring of support has impacted them. In addition, Sawyer gets insight into the dynamics of the couple from friends and loved ones who know them best."

Congresswoman Giffords was shot in the head at close range on Saturday January 8 outside a Tucson supermarket. Six people were killed and 13 others injured. Over the weekend it was reported that her condition had improved from "critical" to "serious," and that doctors were able to remove her breathing tube.

When asked if he would meet with Loughner's parents, Kelly told Sawyer, "I'd probably see them. You know, I don't think it's their fault. It's not the parents fault. ... I'd like to think I'm a person that's, you know, somewhat forgiving. And, I mean, they've got to be hurting in this situation as much as much as anybody."

Portions of the interview will also air Tuesday on 'Good Morning America,' 'World News With Diane Sawyer' and 'Nightline.' The full interview will be shown on '20/20' at 10PM ET.
