Ricky Gervais Blasts Everyone from Charlie Sheen to Steve Carell as Host of the Golden Globes (VIDEO)

Ricky Gervais, 'The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards'Ricky Gervais was back this year as the host of 'The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards' (Sun. 8PM on NBC), and he was as biting and brutal as always. He takes to the Hollywood elite like Don Rickles does to his audiences.

The night started off with perhaps the most obvious target. "He picked up a porn star, went to a hotel, got drunk, got naked, trashed the place while she was locked in the cupboard and that was a Monday. What did he do New Year's Eve?" Gervais asked of Charlie Sheen.

His tirades would target the actresses of 'Sex and the City 2,' the film 'The Tourist' and even Hugh Hefner's upcoming nuptials. "Just don't look at it when you touch it," he advised bride-to-be 24-year old Crystal Harris.

And all of that before the first award was given.

As the night progressed, Gervais was on hand with his own brand of love and appreciation for all of the stars. He introduced Robert Downey Jr. by saying, "Many of you in this room probably know him best from such facilities as the Betty Ford Clinic and the Los Angeles County jail."

In introducing Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, Gervais went into a lengthy list of all of Hanks's achievements and accolades over the years. And then, "The other ... is Tim Allen."

Hanks responded, "Like many of you, we recall back when Ricky Gervais was a slightly chubby but very kind comedian."

"Neither of which is he now," Allen concluded.

He went into a lengthy diatribe against the "ungrateful" Steve Carell for his decision to leave 'The Office' this season, and then was snubbed by the actor when he went up for a quick embrace.

"I love it!" Carell shouted about the jokes at his expense. "Never gets old!"

Though he may not have been very chubby or very kind tonight, he was entertaining. Do you think Gervais went too far? Or perhaps not far enough? How do you rate his performance this year as the Master of Ceremonies for the Golden Globes?

The Golden Globes are just boring like most of these award shows. Awards? isn't the money they make award enough? No Gervais and I'm watching something else or doing something else.

I loved it these people get paid so dam much for so little when you think how much a teacher or doctor makes wtf laugh at them they are there to make us happy right so the jokes were great and right on target if you don't want people laughing at you don't go do something so dumb as to become the target of such easy jokes. Really people get so pissed over such stupid things these days

"He was fantastic--particularly because the smug, self-important crowd absolutely hated him. Bring him back every year."

You nailed it on the head, Michael! Considering that he's a funnyman, I was surprised at Steve Carell's lack of sense of humor. In fact, none of them seemed to have a sense of humor. Get over yourselves, people! Bravo to Ricky Gervais for telling it like it is!

Ricky G., The eclamation point to the evening was the President of this self-promoting Golden Globe organization to respond to Ricky by threatening him with "sanctions" when he ever attempts to get his films "qualified".
What an obious trap the idiot fell into. He should have been left on the bowl.

Ricky Gervais was and remains the best host of any awards show since Billy Crystal on the Oscars. He may insult some but he is hysterically funny and anybody who doesn't think so doesn't have a sense of humor. The British know how to do everything.
