Lucy Lawless' role of Lucretia on the Starz series 'Spartacus' requires a bit of immodesty.

The actress bares a lot of skin in explicit sex scenes, but the show uses merkins. Mer-what? Lawless explained the interesting wardrobe piece on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated).

A merkin, or a pubic wig, covers Lawless' private body parts. So, how does one make a merkin?


"There's this lady who sits, and she has this microscopic crochet needle and she hand knots pubic hairs onto this piece of lace," Lawless said. "I don't think they were originally pubic hairs."

Some job, right? According to Lawless, each hair has to be curled with a tiny curler. And thankfully, she does not have to sit for it while the merkin is custom made.
