Ricky Gervais Will Cameo on 'The Office' Next Week

by Jean Bentley, posted Jan 19th 2011 2:40PM
Ricky GervaisSomeone on 'The Office' set isn't too good at keeping secrets, because the news that Ricky Gervais, creator and star of the original U.K. series, has shot a "top-secret" cameo on the American version of his hit show.

Vulture reports that Gervais will pop up very briefly in the Jan. 27 episode. "It's a little more than if you blink, you'll miss it, but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it," 'Office' showrunner Paul Lieberstein said. That's just a week away!

Though Gervais' name has been tossed around as a possible replacement for Steve Carell when the Dunder Mifflin boss leaves toward the end of the current season, the recent Golden Globes host has been quick to shoot down those rumors.

"I'm not taking over from Steve Carell and will just continue to make millions for doing f*** all," he wrote on his blog in August, "because I created the show and all the characters, and own the format and it's being syndicated now and I get paid every time any episode of any version is played anywhere in the world."

i for one would never watch "office" again if gervais plays michael scott. I cannoy understand a word this limey nutjob says, his accent is undecipherable, would have to have sub-titles
doent he realize that his show would have bombed in the US without Steve carell?? well he will find out very quickly next year . gervais proved on the Golden Globes show that he jumped the shark many many months ago he should get on the first plane to England and never show his mug here again

Ricky Gervais is the man. I'll watch anything with him in it. Which is why I even bothered to watch the golden globes. Besides Ricky hosting the event, I found it very boring. His stand up comedy is brilliant as well

Ricky Gervais is just a regular guy! He's average looking~ his GF average looking~ He's got a wit about him and he knows how to use it. Good For him that he is smart enough to have all the properties to the Office show all the characters are his and he gets the profit. Thats what happesn to people who know how to do it and what to do with it. Oh and I liked him on the award show and wish he wold do them all!

If I were his agent I would have convienced him to be one of the judges on this seasons American Idol. Now that would have been a show racing home for. They would have been giving the yellow ticket to hollywood and a white ticket straight to therapy. Just imagine if william hung would have tried out for idol this season instead. Headlines in major newspapers would have read WILLIAM HUNG HIMSELF due to Mr. Gervais choice words, lol

Good for Ricky! This man is genius material. Those that were offended by anything he said, frankly were the very ones needing to be offended. I hope he gets an even bigger venue to keep things in life in perspective. Keep it coming Ricky! There's a lot more folks out there deserving of your wit. Taking people out of their comfort zone with the truth makes for great humor. Mean sprited? NO! Pointing the finger of truth? YES! Funny? HILLARIOUS! He has been the best MC for these tired, sad, has beens & wanna bes, awards shows to come along in ages. They should give him the job forever!

The news said Ricky Gervais is mean-spirited so I'll just say all the things they say in my complaints about him. Get over it, the Globes were funny... for once. Gervais is one of the funniest comedians around.

He is an "unclassy," vampire-looking goul, or should I say..."goon." The Globes is such a classy event and the instant this guy come on the screen, suddenly it affected the whole tone of the event. He is a filthy-mouthed athiest, as he so boldy shouted out while ending the event.. Me? I chose God, most people do. I think Robert Downey, Jr, did it very eloquently when after being introduced, he absolutely turned 180 degrees around, looked to the side curtain back stage and gave him the most baffled and degrading look like, "what a jerk you are," and then went on with what he had to do out there. The guy STINKS and i cannot even stand to look at him. I think he is touched in the head and you can tell by the crazed look in his eyes. GO BACK TO WHERE YOU ARE FROM, you absolute untalented baffoon.

Sincerely,

Patty...a Christian...how do you like that, baffoonist Gervais?

So he does the same kind of things that Leno and the late night comedians do and now he is the biggest A****** in the business? Yeah this makes no sense a lot of the stuff he said was hilarious and if the celebrities can't handle that then too bad. These people get paid millions to be arrogant and divas they need to be knocked down a notch anyway.
