Kiefer Sutherland Says '24' Movie May Shoot This Year

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jan 21st 2011 6:30AM
Kiefer SutherlandChloe O'Brien may have told Jack Bauer to "shut it down" in the series finale, but according to star Kiefer Sutherland, the '24' movie is back on.

He told 'Extra' that he hopes the movie may start shooting "hopefully by December or January," and that "it's something we're very excited about."

However, after making over 200 episodes of the TV series, Sutherland acknowledged the problems that have reportedly dogged the search for a suitable story and script. "It's very hard ... to try and find a story that's unique and will service the history of the show as well."

Rumors of a '24' movie have abounded since the drama ended last year, but it's been continuously beset by problems. It was reported back in April that writer Billy Ray had completed a script, but then nothing until December when we heard that the script had been rejected, and that Tony Scott was on-board with his own ideas for the movie.

Still, for now, anyway, Sutherland's dance card is full. He's headed to Broadway to co-star with Chris Noth in a revival of 'That Championship Year'. Stay tuned for more '24' movie updates.

Good God...didn't this show get to be boring enough after the second season? How many repetetive times can Jack Bauer save the friggin' world? Anyone who would pay to sit through a two hour movie of the same crap is deep into self flagellation.

If most people wanting to see the film do not have the patience to wait for the movie to be made I dont know how they will have the patience to wait through a 24 hour movie.

24 the movie will be just your standard hollywood fare and thats the problem, unless you get top writers, top director, and really take there time with it, the movie will fail.
