Craig Ferguson Addresses Keith Olbermann's Departure from MSNBC on 'The Late Late Show' (VIDEO)
Keith Olbermann has become an enigma in a matter of a few days. On Friday, he abruptly announced that it would be his last show for MSNBC. Then, he started Tweeting various cryptic updates, keeping his fans and the press waiting on the edge of their keyboards. His directions, as they were, pointed to a possible surprise appearance on 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' (Weeknights, 12:37AM on CBS), but that didn't happen ... or at least, we didn't see Olbermann.Craig Ferguson took on Olbermann's departure in his monologue, but he didn't have any insider insight. "First there was Larry King, and then Regis has announced he's going, and now Olbermann," Ferguson said. "Horrible things always happen in threes. It's like the Jonas Brothers."
Ferguson also cited that certain something that Olbermann has that upsets people -- opinions -- but didn't indicate if that had anything to do with what happened. In fact, in a bit with his skeleton robot sidekick, Geoff, he indicated exactly just how little he knows about what happened.
Geoff called the viewers "consumer zombies," and Ferguson chastised him for it. "You'll end up getting fired or leaving or having your contract voided or whatever the f*** happened to Keith." But wait ... we couldn't help notice that Geoff sounded a little bit like Keith tonight. Is it possible Olbermann got around his no-TV appearance agreement with NBC by voicing Ferguson's robot sidekick for the evening? Conspiracy theorists and voice analysts, start your engines!
