Busy Philipps: Golden Globe Seating Reveals Hollywood's 'High School' Cliques (VIDEO)
Have you ever noticed how all the big stars at the Golden Globes get to sit up front, whether they're nominated or not? Then, when you have a winner like Katey Sagal -- who won for 'Sons of Anarchy' -- she has to walk from what looks like the back of the theater to accept her award.Busy Philipps ('Cougar Town') explained it all on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM on TBS). "The Golden Globes ... illuminates how Hollywood is high school," she said. For one thing, the celebrities are divided into cliques for their seating arrangements, and they never co-mingle.
You have your movie stars, who are "on the floor closest to the stage," according to Philipps. "The bigger the movie star the closer to the stage."
Television stars, on the other hand, are up a tier. Again, "The bigger the TV stars, the closer they are to the edge."
That explains why Sagal had such a trek. She had to work her way through all the movie stars who weren't nominated for anything before she could even get close to the stage. Maybe that's why she didn't have as much time to talk as the movie stars got. She used it up getting to the mic.
