Regis Explains Recent Airport Pat-Down on 'Access Hollywood Live' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Jan 27th 2011 1:15PM
Everybody knows Regis Philbin, but that doesn't seem to be enough to spare him a pat-down at the airport. On 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated), Philbin explained a recent frisking he was given at LAX after his titanium hip replacement set a metal detector off.

Philbin said he tried to tell TSA officials about his fake hip, but he was searched anyway. "I had a hip replacement a couple of years ago, but it's titanium," he said. "And, so, the bells go off ... I still had to put the hands out. The guy's going to pat me down and they're very delicate, you know. I don't mind anymore. I'm getting to like it."

People need to get special passes or doctor certification to be exempted from x-rays and patdowns for such things as titanium hip replacements and other medical materials that can set off an airport alarm. It is nuts for patients to be victimized by the TSA over and over again. Senior citizens are the ones being targeted the most and they are probably the least to be any kind of a security threat. Regis is a very good sport about it all.

If he was a Muslim carrying a suitcase they probably would have let him through with no pat down..

I'll drive before I let some nitwit touch my wife and kids. People go to jail for doing less then these people do.

Time to get with it. PROFILING!!.. works everywhere else that does it.

The need to have seperate flights for all the people who don't want to go through the screening--just get on board and take your chances.

You know I have to say,I am happy that no matter, how big of celebrity you are.You will be treated like everyone else.I dont mind that people are patted down. If its done professionall, and not just a free thrill. We are in one of the worst times of our lives. We have alot of countries that would love to blow us off the planet, and enough bombs to do it.We have terriorst among us,that we are not aware of .We have sick people that use religion for their excuse to promote hate, and call it under Gods rules. We have enough criminals walking amongs us that the judges keep letting out.So When I hear stuff like this, makes me feel a liitle safer.
