Sarah Palin Calls Obama's State of the Union 'Sputnik Moment' Analogy a 'WTF Moment' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Jan 27th 2011 3:35PM
Sarah Palin stopped by 'On the Record With Greta Van Susteren' (weekdays, 10PM ET on Fox News) where she talked about Barack Obama's State of the Union address.

Palin was particularly critical of Obama's call for a modern day "Sputnik moment," a reference to how the American government and scientific community rallied together after the Soviet Union launched the first satellite into space.

"That was another of those WTF moments, when he so often repeated this 'Sputnik moment,' that he would aspire Americans to celebrate," Palin said. (WTF is an acronym for a profane phrase that starts with "What the ...")

According to Palin's interpretation of history, the whole concept of the "Sputnik moment" Obama was describing was bogus, because the Soviets' early win in the space race ultimately contributed to the communist empire running out of money.

Say what you will about the former-governor, but at least she's bringing Internet lingo into mainstream politics.

"wtf"? I look to Sarah Palin as a clean, conservative, wholesome politician, but that was disappointing.

Sarah Palin should crawl back under the rock she came from. She should also shut up. She is still being held responsible for her targeting of poliiticans that came to a bad end. She continues to show her stupidity. Unfortunately, a news bulletin just arrived that says the rock Palin crawled out from under, refuses to take her back.

bkct7 - anyone who believes that Sarah Palin is spot on has some serious issues. The woman is an a dangerous, hate monering idiot. Obama, whatever he is or isn't, is an educated man searching for solutions to challenges that people like Palin don't even understand let alone have answers to. People who think Sarah has anything intelligent to say are as ignorant as she is and that's the real danger in the US today. People with antiquated mind sets who do not understand the challenges of a contemporary America nor think about anything but guns, ammo, violence as solutions rather than sociological change are too common and a threat to civilization as we (WELL SOME OF US KNOW ABOUT THAT, Sarah not being one of them!) know it. There's a slew of them like Sarah, Angle, Bachman who because they are attractive women win the hearts of mindless men who believe they need to take guns to political rallies, have 30 bullet magazines and relive the old west.
The drival that comes out of this prehistoric cave men and women is a sad and sorry reflection on our country...I believe they are called Joe Six Packs. Rest assured, educated people living in cities and not in the backwoods of some place like Alaska or South Carolina will do what they need to do to keep the country out of the hands of those who are morally and mentally challenged with Sarah leading the pack. She's pretty on the outside but she's an ugly, ignorant person who ought to shut up and hunt a caribou...beauty is skin deep but ugly goes right to the bone...VIOLA, Caribou Barbi...Sarah the baraccuda!

Her comment about Obama are "spot on". The greatest danger facing this country is his reckless spending through the government takeover of healthcare and everything else he's "invested in" and all he talks about is something that happened 50 years ago?. And instead of focusing on that all you people can do is say hateful things about Governor Palin. It is truly amazing. Oh sorry I don't have a web site to promote.

"all he talks about"? You do understand what an analogy is supposed to achieve? His is actually historically very appropriate. And you do not tell the truth when you say "all he talks about" nor do you seem to understand what it's significance was to this country. Obviously, neither does Palin. The Sputnik program of 50 years ago was not the cause of the fall of the "Communist SSR" as she called it. What a paper tiger. Also, you call her Governor Palin, did she actually serve a full-term? Her rhetoric is divisive in the most inappropriate of times for this country, and whatever points she might make are lost due to that.

Yup, that she is! I once thought of Bush as the Idiot in Chief but in comparison with the Alaskan wonder, Bush is an Einstein. No, seriously, this woman is not only an idiot she is also as much a bona fide danger to good taste as she is to our national welfare. And why is the media keep dragging her of obscurity where she belongs and putting her on center stage for the rest of us to nauseate over?

This is the most UNpartriotic thing she could do and it takes the cake, even for Palin. She put guns in people’s hands (literally) and incites them with her right-wing extremism. There is no stopping her and she refuses to back down or even tone it down. This is a prime example... it couldn't be in poorer taste. I drew a visually commentary about this very thing on my artist's blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/sarah-palin-made-me-do-it.html
