Karl Pilkington is Impressed with the Taj Mahal But Otherwise Hated India (VIDEO)

'An Idiot Abroad'Karl Pilkington has become something of a national treasure in the UK. A "little round-headed buffoon," as described by his friends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Pilkington is a singular individual with such a unique personality that conspiracies abound that it's made up.

Thus it was a near genius idea when they approached British network Sky 1 to film a travel show with Pilkington at the center. Actually, it was Gervais and Merchant's idea. Pilkington, a proud homebody with no interest in the world outside his town, had to be talked into it.

Thus, 'An Idiot Abroad' (Sat., 10PM on Science) was born.

In it, Pilkington would travel to the Seven Wonders of the World and present them as filtered through his unique view of the world. And, because Gervais and Merchant love to torture him, he was sent through some of the poorest and uniquely non-Western parts of the world just to make him as out of sorts and uncomfortable as possible.

This week, he went to the Taj Mahal in India and when asked how he was feeling about being there, he responded, "Stomach's better now. I'm fine." Pilkington spent the ten days before arriving at the Taj Mahal with serious bathroom problems.

"I meant more of an emotional nature, being here."

"How can you have an emotional feeling here?" Pilkington responded incredulously. It was too crowded and busy for him.

In the end, he admitted he was impressed with the Taj Mahal. His opinions on India in general?

"I hate it."

Love this show! Can't wait to see Karl in Jordan. Anyone interested in a watch party? I did it last week and it was a lot of fun. Very well done. Go to watchparty.tv. I think it's featured on the site. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. Great show and a lot of fun to watch with a group.
