Alana De La GarzaFans of the mothership 'Law & Order' take note: Alana De La Garza is joining the cast of NBC's struggling 'Law & Order: Los Angeles.' Hooray! And it gets better: She's playing her 'Law & Order' character, ADA Connie Rubirosa.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the L&O veteran completes the casting overhaul that began with the dismissal of three actors and and the move of Alfred Molina's character to detective.

De La Garza joined 'Law & Order' in season 17 and was with the show until it ended in May 2010.

"I hope fans of the 'mothership' will be happy to see the return of Alana's character, Connie Rubirosa, one of the longest-running assistant prosecutors on 'Law & Order,'" Dick Wolf, the show's creator, said. "Alana has a huge following and it will be interesting to follow her character as she comes to terms with Los Angeles justice."

FYI Sam Waterston is currently in a play at the Long Wharf Theater in New Haven CT. They think it will go to Broadway sometime after it finishes its run. It's called The Old Masters, and it will be at the Long Wharf until Feb. 13.

Law and order is the only tv program I watch. If it is not on, I will read a book(nothing) for me on tv. Please keep it on tv, the original is the best. I'll even watch reruns. Is there a danger that it ran it's course and that we've seen the last of it? It would be devastating to loose it.. When you have a good thing, you stick with it!!!!! Lois Horowitz

I miss 'Law and Order' a lot. As much as I like the other L&O shows, the original is the best and I wish it were still on.

There is NO WAY that Law and Order: L.A. will work if they leave Alfred Molina in the cast. He looks like a patient from an insane asylum. They never should have cancelled Law and Order: The Original.

I totally agree with you. the original was always the best. cancel SVU if you must cancel,, or mess with L&O Bring Linus Roche back and Sam and Jeremy and Bernard.

i also somewhat agree. i think both molina and howard are a big bore. they have no edge. in fact the whole show is pretty boring. i am a huge l&o fan but this version puts me to sleep. huge mistake canceling the original

Alana is such a beautiful woman. Loved her brief love for Horatio & sister to Eric on CSI Miami and the ada on Law & Order. Wish the whole cast of Law & Order (org.) would move out there to LA I watched a few of the LA's- I would watch if nothing else was on, now I will make a point to check it out again. Sisto would be nice to see again too! anywhere LOL!!!!
