'Mike & Molly' Star Billy Gardell Reacts to Marie Claire Criticism (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Jan 31st 2011 1:45PM
Billy Gardell of 'Mike & Molly' is still trying to live down an article by Marie Claire contributor Maura Kelly, in which his show was accused of "promoting obesity." Gardell addressed the article, which appeared last October, on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM ET on CBS) this morning.

Gardell was philosophical about Kelly's criticism. "Look, you know, you can't please everybody," he said. "I'm a stand-up comic. I know that. It doesn't matter how funny you are and how well you do, there's two people that are going to walk out of there hating you."

Still, he pointed out that the show is a success in terms of viewership, and he plans on focusing on that going forward. "That woman's issues are hers and that's fine. We had 13 million people two weeks ago that are tuning in. I'm going to concentrate on that," he said.

Loosen up.........bet that woman has obese relatives. I love Mike and Molly. At least we can watch a good comedy about REAL PEOPLE - not skinny little starving girls.
