'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' Season 3, Episode 16 (Season Finale) Recap

Cynthia Bailey, 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta'['The Real Housewives of Atlanta' - 'The Bride and the Doom']

Who'da thunk it? Familial subterfuge overshadowed the would-she-or-wouldn't-she question concerning Cynthia, the repeat runaway bride.

It was clear that Cynthia's mom and sister had pretty major misgivings about Peter -- enough to scheme in full view of the entire Bravo audience -- but exactly how many snafus, besides the hidden marriage license, were their doing?

Where did the wedding bands go, exactly?? Why did Mallorie keep saying she liked Peter when she obviously rejected him, in the end? Was it just Peter's finances (or lack therof) that she and her mother were afraid of, not him?

By the way, what did you think of Cynthia's "platinum silver" wedding dress? And the way the emcee mistakenly said "Mr. and Mr. Peter Anthony Thomas"? In any case, Cynthia's daughter couldn't have been more sweet and mature about the wedding.

Kim got new breasts and a new boyfriend, but displayed the same old tendency for nipple exposure. Gotta love how she brought her own wine to the wedding, anticipating a lack of booze.

NeNe batting her eyes at Peter was hilarious. Yet there were no laughs in that same depressing situation with Gregg. He remained all talk and no action regardless of his assertions that his apology was "humble" and "heartfelt." His promise to "see where it goes" was as dismal as his inaction in the time leading up to his effort to clear the air, if it was even a genuine effort at all. You can tell NeNe has been so absolutely disappointed time and again, effectively saying that she "knows her worth" but Gregg, as interpreted via his actions, does not.

If NeNe's statement about her worth didn't do it for you, the more obvious life-affirming moments of the finale involved Lawrence's expert performance (especially for Kandi) and Phaedra's bittersweet return to work. At the beginning of the season, the show's lawyer mom seemed to put up a tough front, but her character has thawed a lot towards the end. Shereé's confrontational audition didn't exactly qualify as joyful, though the fact that she got the part anyway made the whole thing seem a bit less icky.

The Kim-NeNe impasse remained intact, so who knows what will break the ice in that stalemate next season. What do you think really forms the core of their argument: Old resentments, or new ones? It's a safe bet that there will be some that just won't die.

At least NeNe and Dwight made amends, in their own way, via compliments and possibly a bit of vino, in true 'Housewives' style. What's your best guess as to what will happen with Kim and NeNe, Peter and Cynthia and Gregg and NeNe? If you've been following the real-time lives of the 'wives, you know Kroy is bound to stick around ...

I think Kim and NeNe will make amends as always and Greg and NeNe will work things out. I wish that I could say the same for Cynthia and Peter because I see turmoil in their marriage.
