'American Idol' Apologizing Tonight for Steven Tyler's 'Outrageous' Behavior
Tonight's episode of 'American Idol' will apparently feature an apology from producers, according to a Twitter update from Ryan Seacrest:"At the idol working on the LA episode that you will see thursday. Tomorrow is austin. Make sure u watch the producers apology at the top :)"
On his radio show today, Seacrest dished out more information, telling listeners, "There's a black card that starts the show tonight. It starts with, 'American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler ...''"
It's unclear what this "outrageous behavior" entails, though Seacrest promised "it will all add up and make sense."
Earlier, the New York Post wondered if the apology for featuring auditioner Chris Medina's fiancee, who suffers from brain damage and is confined to a wheelchair. Some viewers found the segment manipulative and exploitative.
That theory seemed to be upheld by the 'American Idol' judges appearance on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' today. Jennifer Lopez said the judges had no idea how unwell Medina's fiancee, Juliana Ramos, was until she was brought into the room. Might the producers regret showing her on-camera?
Or perhaps they're just apologizing for Steven Tyler's creepy faces?
What do you think tonight's 'American Idol' apology about Steven Tyler is about?
